Why Customers Choose McAfee to Secure Data on their Mobile Devices
1. McAfee® auditing and compliance reporting are unmatched Why is this vital? Legislation/compliance requires proof that the device is encrypted – and, that the device was encrypted when it was lost or stolen. McAfee® provides unmatched auditing and reporting capabilities that provide the up-to-date status of every device, user and security policy. This auditing function is the only auditing that is generally accepted by auditing professionals, compliance officers and security managers.
Limitations of Competitive Products:
Competitive products cannot provide this functionality. The fundamental architecture of these products does not provide for detailed auditing nor reporting because these technologies use one-way communication to push information and do not collect the information required to comply with security mandates. With other products you only know the package was sent; with McAfee® you will know that the package was received and successfully installed. Therefore, this approach will not hold up in any audit and would be considered non-complian
2. McAfee® is non-intrusive to the end-user and your operations McAfee® architecture was designed to minimally impact daily operations and to be non-intrusive to the network – especially in large-scale implementations. McAfee® was designed to deliver a small, 3MB file to the client — the core functionality of McAfee® remains in the Management Center.
Limitations of Competitive Products:
Most of our competitors feature modules that are up to 30MB. A large rollout of our competitors’ product would negatively impact the daily operations of your network and client resources.
3. McAfee® integrates seamlessly with your existing infrastructure Our customers demand that their data security solution must integrate unobtrusively in their existing enterprise infrastructure. More often, these infrastructures are based on PKIs such as Microsoft and Entrust and directories including Active Directory and Novell NDS. McAfee® provides those connectors.
Limitations of Competitive Products:
Competing products do not provide connectors or have recently introduced rudimentary substitutes for this functionality.
4. McAfee® has demonstrated lowest cost of ownership (TCO) McAfee® customers frequently report that McAfee® is simple to deploy and they are not forced to devote resources to support McAfee® – “Our helpdesk provides levels two and three support … but we haven’t gotten any calls from users regarding McAfee®,” said one McAfee® client who encrypted more than 10,000 devices.
Limitations of Competitive Products:
Competing products are labor-intensive to install and maintain — often requiring several full-time helpdesk personnel to support end-users.
5. McAfee® dynamically synchronizes passwords In order to secure the data across the enterprise, many McAfee® customers encrypt a variety of devices and login locally and remotely from different access points. McAfee® synchronizes password changes made on one machine to all other machines that each user is assigned to. McAfee® also captures Novell and Microsoft password changes and sets the user’s pre-boot password to match and synchronizes this change to all other machines that the user has access to. McAfee® includes a scripting engine allowing support for any login system, including Windows smart card login. For these reasons, McAfee® was selected by SC Magazine readers as the “Best Authentication Solution in 2006”.
Limitations of Competitive Products:
Due to fundamental differences in the architecture of competing products, it is impossible for McAfee® competitors to dynamically synchronize passwords – resulting in a heavy burden on your helpdesk staff.
